Tribal California casino closed until May 31

The San Manuel Casino has extended its closure period in order to prevent the further spread of Covid-19.

US.- A tribal casino in California will keep its doors closed until May 31 as part of efforts to prevent the further spread of Covid-19.

The San Manuel Casino, near Highland in California, made the announcement on Monday (April 27).

San Manuel will continue to compensate all team members during the time of closure, including benefits, albeit with adjusted wages.

The tribe closed the casino on March 15 and like many other casinos in California, it has had to delay reopening its doors while lockdown measures remain in place across the US.

In a statement on Twitter, San Manuel said: “As the Coronavirus pandemic and our response to it continues to affect just about every aspect of our world, we remain committed to the principle that the health and safety of our community is the most important priority.

“We want to thank our team members, guests, and partners for their patience during this time.”

Meanwhile, yesterday it was announced that small casinos across the US can apply for help from the government to assist with the financial impact of Covid-19.
