BoscaSports expands UK presence with new acquisition
The Irish betting technology provider will buy the video streaming company 2DB.
UK.- The Irish betting technology firm BoscaSports has expanded its UK footprint through the acquisition of video streaming company 2DB. The move is aimed at strengthening its position in the retail betting sector, with the company highlighting licensed betting offices (LBOs) as a key market.
BoscaSports said the acquisition would double its workforce and enhance both retail and online capabilities. The purchase price has not been made public, but The Irish Times reports that the combined business is expected to generate around €4m in annual revenue. Allied Irish Bank (AIB) is providing a loan facility for the deal.
BoscaSports already has a strong presence in UK retail betting, working with operators such as Paddy Power, William Hill, the UK Tote Group and Britbet. Its display technology is also used at 86 racecourses across the UK and Ireland, including Ascot.
CEO Eugenee Mitchell described the new acquisition as “transformational for BoscaSports”.
“Combining our abilities with 2DB’s integrated video streaming and data solutions significantly enhances our technology stack, our distribution reach, and the value we can deliver to racecourse, operators, and bettors worldwide,” he said. “We are proud to be an Irish tech success story and grateful for the support of AIB and RMG as we enter our next phase of growth.”
2DB’s Managing Director, Steve Boffo, also welcomed the deal, saying: “This is the perfect cultural and strategic match, and we’re ready to hit the ground running for our team and our customers.”
The acquisition comes at a time when both retail betting and horseracing betting face challenges in Britain. Retail participation and gross gaming yield (GGY) have been declining, with the UK Gambling Commission reporting a 2 per cent drop in GGY in 2025. Paddy Power shut 257 shops last year and other major bookmakers have also warned of closures as they seek to absorb the rise in gambling taxes even if retail operations are exempt from the hikes.
