Two more casinos in Vietnam to accept local players while Corona Resort gets permanent OK
Corona Resort & Casino is currently only one casino where Vietnamese citizens can gamble.
Vietnam.- The Grand Ho Tram resort in Ba Ria-Vung Tau and a future development in Van Don will reportedly open their casinos to Vietnamese players. Grand Ho Tram has confirmed that it has received permission under a five-year pilot programme.
Currently, Corona Resort & Casino on Phu Quoc Island the only venue that can currently accept local players. It was today granted permanent permission to accept locals under Resolution No. 307/2025/NQ-CP.
The Grand Ho Tram currently caters to foreigners only. Located southeast of Ho Chi Minh City, it’s in the midst of a new 35-hectare development to add a five-star hotel complex, luxury villas, entertainment and an international convention and exhibition centre. The project is a partnership between Lodgis Hospitality Holdings and VinaLiving, part of the investment company VinaCapital.
The other casino that will reportedly accept local players is the upcoming US$2bn development in Van Don. This is being developed by Sun Group and is due to open fully by 2032.
Local access to casinos in Vietnam was first tested on a limited basis in 2017. Vietnamese players must be at least 21 years old, have full civil act capacity and demonstrate a stable monthly income of at least VND10m (US$400) or be subject to grade-3 income tax or higher. They must also not be subject to written objection from their parents, spouse or siblings.
