Sue Suckling steps down as SkyCity board member
The non-executive director will leave the board on Friday.
New Zealand.- SkyCity Entertainment Group Limited has announced the retirement of Sue Suckling, a non-executive director, from the company’s board effective on Friday (October 27). In its 2023 Notice of Annual Meeting, Suckling had expressed her intention to retire in 2023, subject to the appointment of a replacement New Zealand-based non-executive director.
Suckling’s replacement will be Donna Cooper, who was appointed to the SkyCity board on September 28, 2023, after receiving regulatory approvals.
Julian Cook, chair of the SkyCity board, said: “Sue has made an important contribution to SkyCity over her term, and has also provided valued continuity whilst the Board refresh has been undertaken. The Board thanks Sue for her service and wishes her the best in her future endeavours.”
A week ago, SkyCity announced the departure of its chief executive officer, Michael Ahearne from his role at the end of March 2024. His association with SkyCity dates back to December 2017 when he assumed the position of group chief operating officer. He became CEO in November 2020. SkyCity has initiated a recruitment process for a new CEO that will consider both internal and external candidates.
