SJM Holdings and Galaxy Entertainment Group are the latest Macau operators to offer special paid leave for workers who need to accompany children and elderly parents for vaccination.

Macau.- Two other casino operators have followed Melco Resorts in offering special paid leave for staff that need to accompany elderly people and children to receive their Covid-19 vaccinations.

SJM Holdings said its SJM Vaccination Encouragement Programme would run until April 30. The company said those who register parents aged 70 years and above or children under the age of 18 may apply for one extra day of paid leave.

Meanwhile, Galaxy Entertainment Group will allow its employees who need to accompany their children under 18 or parents aged 70 or above to be vaccinated one day of Family Vaccine Leave per eligible vaccinated family member. Its programme will run between March 7 and June 30.

The company added that team members who receive a dose during the period “can also enjoy a day of leave on the day of, or following the vaccination.” GEG said nearly 95 per cent of its team members have been vaccinated.

According to the ministry of health, 682,300 people or about 55.5 per cent of Macau’s population had received two doses of a Covid-19 vaccine.
