Melco Resorts has announced it will offer special paid leave for workers who need to accompany children and elderly parents for vaccination.

Macau.- In order to continue encouraging people to get vaccinated, Melco Resorts has announced it will offer special paid leave for workers who need to accompany children and elderly parents for Covid-19 vaccination.

Lawrence Ho, Melco Resorts CEO, said: “The health and safety of our Colleagues, community and customers are of paramount priority. To encourage the vaccination of children and elderly parents of our Colleagues, we will be giving paid special days off for our Colleagues to accompany their children and elderly parents to get vaccinated.”

By the end of 2021, Melco’s vaccination coverage in Macau was close to 95 per cent. The casino operator had offered MOP16m in incentives, including a lottery for all eligible and fully vaccinated employees, with six employees each winning MOP1m.

At last count, 520,702 people or about 76 per cent of the Macau’s population had received at least one dose of the Covid-19 vaccine. The Ministry of Health says 384,387 have received two doses and 104,321 received a third booster shot.

Authorities noted a significant increase in the number of adolescents, children or people over 60 receiving their first dose of the vaccine, but stressed that the current vaccination rate in Macau is still unsatisfactory.
