PAGCOR supports US$6.7m PMA warfare lab through licensee foundation
The new Modern Warfare Laboratory at the Philippine Military Academy will be funded through the Bloomberry Cultural Foundation under PAGCOR’s regulatory framework.
The Philippines.- The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) has signed a memorandum of agreement on funding for the construction of a PHP379.48m (US$6.7m) Modern Warfare Laboratory at the Philippine Military Academy (PMA). The funding will be provided by licensee Bloomberry Cultural Foundation Inc. (BCFI).
The agreement covers the demolition of the academy’s former station hospital and the construction of a two-storey facility designed to equip cadets with new defence technologies and military concepts. Demolition is expected to begin in the coming weeks, with the laboratory targeted for completion in the fourth quarter of 2027.
Alejandro H. Tengco, PAGCOR chairman and CEO, witnessed the signing ceremony and said the state gaming regulator remains committed to supporting initiatives that strengthen the capabilities of the AFP, in line with a directive from President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. Tengco thanked the Bloomberry Cultural Foundation, led by president Donato Almeda and chairman Enrique K. Razon Jr., for its support.
PAGCOR has a regulatory policy requiring integrated resort licensees to establish charitable foundations and allocate a portion of their revenue to programmes supporting cultural heritage, education, healthcare, sports development and other nation-building initiatives. The Modern Warfare Laboratory is one of several projects undertaken by the Bloomberry Cultural Foundation for the PMA and wider military.
Last week, president Ferdinand Marcos Jr. formally recognised PAGCOR for its dividend remittance to the national government. PAGCOR ranks fifth among the country’s 50 government-owned and controlled corporations after contributing PHP5.67bn (US$92.1m) from its 2025 profits.
