In the local assembly, Nakamura added that prefecture’s implementation policy for an IR will be set on March
Japan.- Nagasaki Governor Hodo Nakamura announced on Wednesday that RFP process for a casino resort will be selected in Autumn 2020.
After Governor Suzuki announced that the Hokkaido has abandoned plans for an IR last week, Nagasaki authorities confirmed its bid and schedule its plan to choose its private partner for the project. In the local assembly, Nakamura added that prefecture’s implementation policy for an IR will be set on March.
The authorities didn’t want to talk about Hokkaido’s situation and focus in its own plan: “We are not in a position to comment on the initiatives of other regions. Nagasaki’s stance is to proceed with putting all of our efforts into an IR bid that has the appeal to draw many tourists from both overseas and within Japan.”
There are three companies that are interested in developing the resort in Nagasaki. Japanese firm Current Corp, gaming operator Casinos Austria International Japan Inc and Oshidori International Development Ltd. According to GGRAsia, there is a fourth entity that doesn’t want to be public.
Japan’s national government confirmed that it would accept IR certification applications in early 2021. The proposed closing date for such submissions would be July 30, 2021.
