Authorities in The Philippines have decided to ease Covid-19 countermeasures due to a decline in new cases.

The Philippines.- Authorities in Manila have confirmed the city will return to Alert Level 2 Covid-19 restrictions from February 1 until at least February 15. Presidential spokesperson Karlo Nograles announced the news amid a decline in Covid-19 cases. The measure will also be implemented in seven other provinces.

The capital city of Manila has been under Level 3 Covid-19 restrictions through January after a new rise of Covid-19 cases and the detection of three local cases of the Omicron variant. Casinos continued operating but on a limited basis, and only fully vaccinated customers were allowed to enter. Non-entertainment venues were limited to 40 per cent indoor and 60 per cent outdoor capacity.
