Malaysian authorities raid gambling den in Bukit Jalil luxury condo
Some 15 people aged between 21 and 44 were arrested during the raid
Malaysia.- Police in Malaysia have dismantled an illegal gambling and mini casino operation running from a luxury condominium unit in Bukit Jalil following a raid on Saturday (June 13).
Lim Chun How, Cheras district deputy police chief, said the operation was carried out by officers from the Cheras district police headquarters’ Anti-Vice, Gambling and Secret Societies Division under Ops Noda/Dadu.
During the operation, authorities arrested some 15 people aged between 21 and 44, including 12 local men, two local women and one Vietnamese woman. Officers also recovered gambling-related items, including a casino table, hundreds of chips, playing cards, laptops, a karaoke system and nearly RM4,904 (US$1,210) in cash.
Police also discovered four transparent packets containing a white substance suspected to be cocaine, weighing around 10.11g, believed to be linked to one of the suspects who is wanted in connection with a drug case in Pulau Tikus, Penang.
Lim said the suspects are being investigated under multiple laws, including the Entertainment (Federal Territory) Act 1992, the Common Gaming Houses Act 1953 and the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952. Investigations are ongoing.
