Malaysia: 17 arrested over illegal cockfighting
Police in Sibu, Malaysia, have carried out a raid and arrested 17 people for alleged involvement in illegal cock fights.
Malaysia.- Police arrested 17 people during a raid on an illegal cockfighting event that was being held at an open space at Jalan Bukit Penyau on Saturday. Those arrested were aged 19 to 75.
Police seized four live and two dead chickens, three fighting cocks and an electronic weighing machine. The case is being investigated under Section 3(1) of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act.
Meanwhile Cheras police have claimed that since the start of 2022, they have dismantled some 22 premises used for illegal gambling. Cheras OCPD Asst Comm Muhammad Idzam Jaafar said 25 suspects had been arrested in during the operations.
