Macau looks to diversify as a convention city

Macau.- Macau is looking to grow its reputation as an international convention city to offset the damage caused by the Covid-19 pandemic to its gaming industry.
Is yet to be seen how the Coronavirus pandemic will impact the convention industry both locally and globally, but the SAR is looking to become a bigger player in the sector as part of efforts to diversify its economy.
The city achieved a better ranking according to the most recent International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA) “International Meetings Market 2019 Report”.
Macau currently sits in 48th place, up 23 spots from the previous survey. Among Asia-Pacific cities, Macau now ranks 12th, up five places.
According to the Macau Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM), which announced the results, science and technology related conventions played a key role in Macau’s higher ranking.
