Macau: daily arrivals show steady rebound
Macau received over 30,000 visitors on October 29 and 29,990 arrivals on Saturday.
Macau.- The Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) has reported that average daily visits showed a steady rebound. According to a press release issued at noon on Monday, 30,512 tourists visited Macau on Friday and 29,990 on Saturday.
The recovery started after Zhuhai eased restrictions for people who have travelled from Macau and will no longer require a 14-day quarantine. Ho Iat Seng, Macau’s chief executive, said people who plan to travel outside Macau would no longer need to present a negative Covid-19 test issued within 24 hours of departure.
Macau tourism office director Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes noted that after the lifting of Covid-19 restrictions, the MGTO launched a campaign to promote the city as a safe destination. Mainland China continues to be the only country to have a largely quarantine-free travel bubble with Macau.
Macau casino operators to sponsor Grand Prix races
Macau is to welcome back the Macau Grand Prix but the event will be held without international competitors due to the closure of borders amid the Covid-19 pandemic. The competition will be sponsored by all six casino operators: SJM, Sands China, Galaxy Entertainment, Melco, MGM and Wynn.
During a press conference held by the Macau Grand Prix Organising Committee, it was revealed that each casino operator will sponsor one race.
