South Korea.- Kangwon Land, the only casino in South Korea where locals are permitted to gamble, will remain closed until 16 March due to the Coronavirus virus sweeping across Asia and the rest of the world.
The casino had originally shut down gaming operations for three days from Sunday 23 February to Wednesday 26 February before later extending the closure for three more days to 29 February.
But on Friday, casino management took the decision to extend the closure once again for a further seven days to 6am on Sunday 15 March
According to Inside Asia Gaming, the property’s hotel, condominiums and ski resort will also remain closed while family theme park Water World will be closed until 20 March.
As of Sunday evening, there were more than 7,000 confirmed cases of Coronavirus in the country and 50 confirmed deaths.
The closure is only the second time the casino has shut its doors to the public in its history. It previously closed for one day in 2012 to check security cameras following a security breach.
