Japan Racing Association bans spectators

Japan Racing Association has also banned the sale of betting tickets and payouts at its racecourses and betting facilities.

Japan.- The Japan Racing Association (JRA) has banned spectators from all race meetings in the country as part of efforts to contain the spread of the deadly Coronavirus.

According to local press, authorities have also temporarily stopped the sale of betting tickets and payouts on race days as well as on weekdays at JRA racecourses and betting facilities.

Bettors are being advised to place wagers via telephone or online banking. 

JRA’s decision comes after similar moves were made by the Hong Kong Jockey Club (HKJC) and South Korean racing authorities.
