India: Kerala bans online rummy

The state government of Kerala has imposed a ban after recent suicides were linked to financial problems caused by online gaming.

India.- Kerala has finally taken the decision to ban online rummy after Kerala’s high court directed the government to make a decision on whether to include online gambling and betting within the purview of the Kerala Gaming Act.

A new ordinance now amends section 14A of the Kerala Gaming Act of 1960 to make online gambling a punishable offence. Police will be able to take action against those involved in online rummy games using the notification.

Kerala joins other Indian states suchs as Gujarat and Tamil Nadu, which have already banned online gambling.
