Illegal gambling sites take bets Covid-19 cases
Illegal gambling sites are targeting punters in Singapore and other countries with markets on the number of new Covid-19 cases.
Singapore.- Illegal gambling sites are targeting punters in Singapore and other countries to bet on the amount of new Covid-19 cases each day.
According to The New Paper, five sites are known to exist, all of which have a similar betting interface.
The sites encourage punters to place bets on the last digit of the number of new daily cases announced in Singapore, as well as offering similar bets on Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia.
Punters also have the option to bet on whether the daily figure is an even or odd number, and if the latest number in the aforementioned countries is higher or lower than the previous day.
Daily odds and results are offered with other sports betting options. According to The New Paper, the Covid-19 markets have taken on ‘more prominence’ than football betting.
It was revealed last week that a new gambling authority will be established in Singapore in 2021.
