Gamesys revenue soars on back of Jackpotjoy merger
Gamesys has been expanding in Asian markets with the launch of its InterCasino brand.
Online software development and gaming business Gamesys Group saw revenue rise by 75.7 per cent to £727.7m (US$1.01bn) in 2020, its first full year after its merger with Jackpotjoy.
Jackpotjoy acquired Gamesys last year, and decided to maintain the brand name.
The company, which operates predominately in the UK and Asia, launched its InterCasino brand in Asia last year, helping revenues from the region to rise 78.3 per cent to £218.3m.
Operator costs rose 67 per cent to £634.3m, and Gamesys also paid a further £24.7m in financial costs (up 3.4 per cent).
After paying £1.5m in taxes, the company’s net income was £67.2m, up 638.4 per cent year-on-year.
Gamesys chief executive Lee Fenton said: “Our focus on recreational customers, our differentiated brands, proprietary technology and established market positions, have attracted record numbers of players in 2020 and we believe this foundation will allow us to continue to deliver sustainable and long-term growth in the year ahead and beyond.”
