The new measures were announced by Armenian Deputy Justice Minister, Vahe Danielyan, as the country battles the spread of Covid-19.

According to reports, scientific, educational, sports and cultural programs sponsored advertising will be allowed but the advertising of gambling, sweepstakes and strip clubs will be strictly prohibited.

Free social advertising will be broadcast from midnight to 6pm, with paid advertising in primetime slots from 6pm to midnight.

The country is trying to curb gambling as it fights Covid-19. As of April 15th, there are 1,111 cases in the country with 17 confirmed deaths.

Armenia has already imposed many restrictions on gambling advertising in recent years. In 2018, the government changed rules to only permit gambling commercials to air between 10pm and 6am.

Many countries around the world are enforcing rules on gambling to prevent problem gambling during the pandemic.
