SJM Holdings has reported that Casino Oceanus has reopened its doors after a snap four-day closure due to local Covid-19 cases.

Macau.- Casino Oceanus has announced that it has reopened its doors after closing for disinfection when a customer was found to have tested positive for Covid-19.

SJM Holdings said the casino “strictly adheres to the pandemic prevention and control measures of the Macau SAR Government to ensure a safe and hygienic environment, safeguarding the health and safety of employees, guests and the entire Macau community.”

A week ago, authorities ordered all entertainment venues, excluding casinos, to suspend operations from October 6 until further notice. The measure covers cinemas, theatres, game consoles and electronic-game rooms and nightclubs, among other venues.

The closures and countermeasures arrived at the start of the Golden Week holiday started, deeply affecting the national holidays as only 8,159 people arrived in Macau during the festive period.

According to JP Morgan Securities, Macau’s GGR during the first ten days of October was MOP1.25bn ($156m). The daily average was 1,166. On the first two days, 3,122 people arrived in Macau. In October Golden Week 2020, 156,300 visitors travelled to Macau.
