Arizona regulator allocates nine limited event wagering licences
Nine of the ten available retail-only licences have been allocated to Phoenix-area racetrack and off-track betting sites.
US.- The Arizona Department of Gaming (ADG) has allocated nine limited event wagering operator licences to racetrack and off-track betting locations in the Phoenix area. The licences were allocated to venues partnered with American Wagering (Caesars Sportsbook) and Skyfall 7 (Turf Paradise).
The approved locations are Turf Paradise Racetrack in Phoenix, Boston’s Bar & Grille in Tempe, Connolly’s Sports Grill in Phoenix, Harold’s Cave Creek Corral in Cave Creek, Red Zone Sports Grill in Glendale, two R.T. O’Sullivans sites in Phoenix and Mesa, The Nest North Sports Grill in Glendale and Trophy Bar in Chandler.
Limited event wagering licences allow retail sports betting only, in partnership with a racetrack or an additional wagering facility that holds a Division of Racing permit. Online betting is not authorised at the sites. The approvals were issued after an application window from August 13 to 27.
The ADG said it will work with the licensees on the next steps for operational launch. The allocation does not by itself authorise the venues to accept event wagers.
Arizona legalised event wagering in 2021. Sports wagers in the first half of 2026 were up by 2 per cent year-on-year at $4.56bn, with $4.54bn placed online. State legislation provides for a maximum of ten limited event wagering licences, reserved for racetrack enclosures or additional wagering facilities alongside the state’s cap of 20 event wagering operator licences, which are split between Arizona tribes and Arizona sports franchises.
