The American Gaming Association’s latest edition of its Commercial Gaming Revenue Tracker shows revenue for the year so far at $44.15bn.

US.- The American Gaming Association (AGA) has published the latest edition of its Commercial Gaming Revenue Tracker. The monthly report shows that October was the US commercial gaming industry’s second-strongest month ever, with $4.75bn in traditional casino gaming, sports betting and igaming revenue.

The report shows 2021 has already beaten 2019 as the highest-grossing year of all time for commercial gaming revenue. With only three states reporting November revenue so far, the total commercial gaming revenue reported for 2021 has already reached $43.68bn, breaking 2019’s record of $43.65bn. The AGA forecasts commercial gaming revenue of around $50bn for the full year.

AGA senior vice president Casey Clark said for Las Vegas Review-Journal: “When full-year numbers are in, we expect commercial gaming revenue to come in around $50bn, a remarkable turnaround for our industry that was devastated by COVID-19,” and added: “Our historic recovery is a testament to gaming’s world-class hospitality and entertainment experiences.”

After the first ten months of 2021, 11 of 25 commercial gaming states that were operational two years ago have already exceeded annual revenue from 2019 and an additional eight markets are outperforming the same period of that year. Six states – Colorado, Iowa, Massachusetts, Michigan, Pennsylvania and South Dakota – have surpassed previous full-year revenue records.

In October, combined revenue from traditional casino gaming, sports betting and igaming was $4.75bn, the second highest monthly total ever and an increase of 30.7 per cent compared to October 2019. On a sequential basis, revenue was up 4.8 per cent from September. Prior to this year, monthly revenue had never topped $4bn. Now the industry has surpassed $4bn in monthly commercial gaming revenue for eight consecutive months.

“Two straight quarters of record gaming revenue is an incredible accomplishment in any context, let alone after the most challenging year in industry history,” AGA president and CEO Bill Miller said after third-quarter results were announced in November.
