National Lottery of Burkina Faso champions youth and sports at Cycling Grand Prix
Cyclists from Burkina Faso and Mali competed in a major cycling race, supported by lottery funding to boost sports, youth and community initiatives.
Burkina Faso.- Burkina Faso National Lottery (LONAB) took a leading role in the RTB Cycling Grand Prix, highlighting its commitment to sports and youth development. The 127.5 km (79.3 mile) race, held on February 15, brought together cyclists from Burkina Faso and Mali and was funded through lottery revenues aimed at supporting national development initiatives.
LONAB’s Director General, Ibrahim Zarani, said: “Supporting sport is taking on our social responsibility and actively contributing to the development of our country.”
The race took place in Ouagadougou under the banner “With the people, the RTB pedals to victory” and was held with support from Burkina Faso’s national radio and television broadcaster (RTB). The event drew a crowd of high-profile attendees, including Burkina Faso’s Prime Minister, Jean Emmanuel Ouedraogo, who came out to support the cyclists.
LONAB highlighted the broader impact of lottery funding. “Because every bet you make contributes to the radiance of our nation, LONAB remains the preferred partner of sports and youth more than ever,” added Zarani.
The winner of the race was Moukaila Rawende, with Soumaïla Ilboudo taking second place. Other top competitors included Soulama Bamassi and Moussa Ouédraogo.
Through events like this, LONAB demonstrates that lottery funding goes beyond supporting sport – it creates opportunities for young people and strengthens communities across the country, reinforcing its role as a key partner in national development.
