Guinea’s National Lottery boosts local football through League Cup sponsorship
By channeling lottery revenue into professional clubs, LONAGUI strengthens competitiveness and engages football fans while supporting community development.
Guinea.- Guinea’s National Lottery (LONAGUI) is channeling lottery revenue into local football by backing the League Cup, a key competition for professional clubs. By funding the tournament, LONAGUI demonstrates how national lotteries can directly invest in sports while engaging fans across the country.
LONAGUI’s Marketing, Communication and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) teams recently met with the technical committee of the Guinean Professional Football League to plan the tournament, finalise the schedule of activities and adjust partnership agreements to optimise promotion and fan engagement.
The Lottery said: “LONAGUI has played a decisive role in the revival of the League Cup, a major competition for the strengthening and competitiveness of local professional clubs.”
With LONAGUI’s financial backing, the League Cup has returned for two consecutive years, raising the level of competition among local clubs and capturing the attention of football fans nationwide. The initiative highlights how lottery and gambling operators can play a positive role in community and sports development while connecting their brand with fans.
As Guinea’s official national lottery operator, LONAGUI runs lottery and other authorised gambling games products, generating revenue that is reinvested into social and community projects, including sports, education and cultural initiatives. Its sponsorship of the League Cup is part of a broader strategy to use lottery proceeds to benefit local communities while promoting responsible gambling.
