Tanzania’s PigaBet ties Fountain Gate football sponsorship to AFCON 2027 ambitions

Betting operator links football investment to Arusha’s rise as a sporting hub ahead of the continental tournament.

Tanzania.- Tanzania’s PigaBet has unveiled a TZS1bn (US$370,000) sponsorship deal with Fountain Gate FC, linking the investment to the country’s preparations for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

The betting operator has positioned its sponsorship of the Premier League side as part of a wider effort to support football growth in Tanzania ahead of the tournament, which will be jointly hosted by Tanzania, Kenya and Uganda.

The sponsorship agreement, reportedly worth TZS1bn (US$370,000), was announced ahead of Fountain Gate FC’s NBC Premier League fixture against Simba SC at Sheikh Amri Abeid Stadium in Arusha, according to The Respondents.

Speaking at the launch, PigaBet marketing manager Arthur Kazola described the agreement as an investment in Tanzanian football and in Arusha’s emergence as a key sporting hub as infrastructure projects continue ahead of AFCON 2027.

PigaBet said the agreement forms part of its broader strategy to support sporting development, create opportunities for young talent and strengthen community engagement through football. The sponsorship further expands the profile of PigaBet, a Tanzania-focused betting operator offering sports betting and online gaming products across the country’s regulated gaming market.

For Fountain Gate FC, the deal provides a significant financial boost as the club looks to strengthen its position in Tanzania’s top flight.

Club president Japhet Makau welcomed the partnership and said it would benefit both the club’s management and playing squad. He added that part of the sponsorship funding would be allocated to performance-based bonuses linked to league results, with players expected to contribute to discussions around how the incentive programme will operate.

The agreement further expands PigaBet’s involvement in Tanzanian sport at a time when betting operators across Africa are increasingly turning to football sponsorships to build brand visibility and deepen engagement with local communities.

Subsequent media reports have suggested the sponsorship coincided with improved performances from Fountain Gate FC, with increased financial backing and player incentives cited as contributing factors.
