Tanzania National Lottery launches US$1.9m lottery rewards campaign
The “Kuwa Mchezoni Ushinde” campaign introduces additional daily and weekly prize draws alongside existing National Lottery products.
Tanzania.- The National Lottery of Tanzania has launched a nationwide promotional campaign offering more than TZS5bn (US$1.9m) in jackpots and prizes aimed at increasing participation across the country’s regulated lottery sector.
Launched on May 5, 2026, the campaign, branded “Kuwa Mchezoni Ushinde” (“Get in the game and win”), gives every valid lottery ticket automatic entry into additional daily and weekly promotional draws alongside the lottery’s regular games.
Speaking during the launch in Dar es Salaam, National Lottery director Kelvin Koka said the initiative was designed to increase winning opportunities for participants and expand engagement while enhancing value for players, according to The Respondent.
Campaign material published online states that prizes include smartphones, televisions, tablets, TZS1m (US$380) cash prizes, motorcycles and Bajaj three-wheelers. The promotion is linked to the National Lottery’s existing products, including Lotto, Tamba na Namba, Spin4Cash and Toboa Chap Chap. According to the operator, the lottery’s existing products already offer daily jackpots, instant wins and cash prizes across multiple game formats.
Players can access the lottery through USSD code 14988#, the official National Lottery website, authorised retailers and mobile payment platforms including Mix by Yas, Selcom Pesa and Airtel Money. Organisers also encouraged responsible gaming during the campaign period.
The National Lottery is operated by Ithuba Tanzania, the Tanzanian subsidiary of South African lottery operator Ithuba Holdings. The company secured an eight-year licence to operate the National Lottery following its appointment by Tanzania’s Gaming Board and has expanded access through digital channels and retail distribution networks.
