South Africa’s largest jackpot of 2025 grows to R140 Million
The substantial jackpot, fuelled by rollovers from previous unclaimed draws, has captured the attention of players across the country, eager to be the winner of the life-changing prize.
South Africa.- The largest South African Powerball jackpot of 2025 has gotten bigger, following a draw on Friday, October 10, that didn’t produce a winner. Prior to the draw, the national lottery operator Ithuba revealed that the jackpot had grown to R130 Million (€6.3m), eclipsing all previous prize pots this year. With the jackpot going unclaimed, the prize has now surged to a guaranteed R140 million (€6.8m) for the next draw on October 14.
The October 10 draw, numbered 1658, produced winning numbers of 06, 10, 40, 44, 50 and Powerball 11, with no one matching all six for the top prize. Lower divisions saw more than R20 million (€981,681) in payouts, including R250,000 (€12,271) awarded to those who matched five numbers plus the Powerball.
The substantial jackpot, fuelled by rollovers from previous unclaimed draws, has captured the attention of players across the country, eager to be the winner of the life-changing prize. The absence of a jackpot winner means the pool continues to accumulate, offering even greater potential for the upcoming Tuesday draw.
With its current value, the jackpot is now the fifth-largest prize in the country’s lottery history. The first remains the R232,131,750.69 (€11.3m) Powerball jackpot won by a man in February 2019.
In related news, Ithuba has raised its prize payout ratio from 48% to 50% of sales, ensuring more money goes directly to winners in every division, including smaller wins like the Powerball.
Since taking over in 2015, the lottery provider has funnelled more than R100 billion (€4.9bn) from proceeds to community efforts, including youth sports and education.
