Senegal’s National Lottery advances toward WLA Level 3 with new support centre
The lottery is building on its Level 2 certification as it prepares a new facility focused on prevention and support for gambling-related addiction.
Senegal.- Senegal’s National Lottery (LONASE) intends to progress towards Level 3 of the World Lottery Association’s (WLA) Responsible Gaming programme and plans to create a new integrated addiction-care centre.
LONASE director general Abdourahmane Doura Baldé announced the forthcoming centre on September 23, when he received the lottery’s Responsible Gaming Committee following its participation in an international seminar on Responsible Gaming and Sustainable Development in Milan, Italy, held from September 16 to 18, according to CNM.
During the meeting, the delegation formally presented Baldé with LONASE’s Level 2 certificate under the WLA Responsible Gaming programme. The meeting was also attended by LONASE Secretary General Moussa Thiam. The delegation was led by Cheikh Senghor, Coordinator of the General Management and President of the Responsible Gaming Committee.
The planned Centre intégré de prise en charge des addictions (integrated addiction-care centre) will focus on prevention, support and care for people experiencing addiction-related problems. The announcement forms part of LONASE’s wider responsible-gaming efforts and player-protection measures.
LONASE intends to continue its process towards Level 3 of the WLA Responsible Gaming programme, using international standards and good practices as a reference.
The lottery obtained its WLA Level 2 certification in July 2026. LONASE said the certification involved evaluating its practices against an international reference framework and identifying areas for further improvement.
Its responsible-gaming priorities include protecting minors, preventing risks associated with excessive gambling, and informing and educating players.
