LONASE achieves WLA Level 2 responsible gaming certification
The certification follows LONASE’s assessment of its responsible gaming measures and identifies areas for further improvement under the WLA framework.
Senegal.- Senegal’s national lottery operator, LONASE, has secured Level 2 certification under the World Lottery Association’s (WLA) Responsible Gaming programme.
In a statement issued on September 5, LONASE said it obtained the certification in July 2026 after evaluating its practices against the WLA’s international responsible gaming framework.
As part of the Level 2 process, LONASE assessed its existing responsible gaming measures, identified areas requiring improvement and submitted its findings to the WLA’s Independent Assessment Panel, which reviews certification applications.
The WLA framework covers 10 areas of responsible gaming, with four certification levels reflecting the extent to which responsible gaming measures are implemented within an organisation.
LONASE described the certification as a milestone in its efforts to strengthen player protection and responsible gambling in Senegal. It said its responsible gambling strategy focuses on three main areas: protecting minors, reducing the risks associated with excessive gambling, and providing players with information to improve awareness.
The WLA’s responsible gaming framework was established in 2006 and is managed by the association’s corporate social responsibility committee. It provides lottery organisations with a structured approach to developing and assessing responsible gaming policies, including measures related to player protection and social responsibility.
Under the WLA’s current membership requirements, new members are required to obtain at least Level 2 responsible gaming certification within 18 months of joining the association.
