PUBG Mobile supercharges Africa’s gaming revolution with local servers and cultural flair
From lag free play to East African inspired outfits, PUBG Mobile stakes its claim as Africa’s gaming champion, putting local players and culture first.
Nigeria.- PUBG Mobile is taking a bold leap into the heart of Africa. Driven by the slogan “For Africa, By Africa”, one of the world’s most popular mobile games has introduced local servers in Nigeria and South Africa, unveiling culturally inspired in-game features.
PUBG has launched a wave of community events across the continent, all aimed at transforming the African gaming experience. After months of listening to its players, the company is acting on feedback about high latency and a lack of regional identity.
For the first time, African gamers can enjoy dedicated servers that cut down lag and make gameplay smoother than ever. With this move, PUBG Mobile is stepping up as one of the first big global games to invest in better infrastructure just for Africa’s players.
Brian Gu, Head of PUBG Mobile Africa, said the launch of local servers signals a serious commitment to the continent’s gamers. “We understand that stable, smooth gameplay is critical for competitive players and always prioritise the needs of our African community,” he said according to Tech Cabal.
In order to continuously optimise the gamer’s experience, PUBG has introduced a Server Node Selection feature, according to Gu. “You can choose whether you want to compete within Africa or challenge global players rapidly, with a one tap solution that delivers a faster, more stable connection because you deserve millisecond precise responsiveness”, he said.
Vibrant outfits, dance and games celebrate African culture
But PUBG Mobile is not just solving technical issues, it is also celebrating African culture. It now features the Maasai Shuka outfit, the bold patterned cloth traditionally worn by the Maasai people, showcasing vibrant East African patterns that let players bring their heritage into battle.

The Mapangale dance, a TikTok-born sensation, has been added as the new Afro Frenzy emote, giving victories a local beat. Later this year, the rollout of a digital Mancala mini game will pay tribute to one of Africa’s oldest and most strategic board games, connecting the past with today’s gaming generation.
The cultural integration is part of a wider campaign that includes an event-packed calendar. This month’s Airdrop Festival Carnival comes with rewards such as Infinix smartphones and Oraimo accessories. The Africa Cup Tournament is gathering national teams for a hotly contested series of matches, with grand finals scheduled for September.
Gu said this is a strong partnership to shape PUBG Mobile with Africa’s culture. “This isn’t just an update. It’s a shared vision between PUBG Mobile and our African community, a commitment to build a game shaped by local voices, culture and creativity.”
