Africa’s gaming surge set to take global summit by storm
SBC Summit 2025 hosts a dedicated track spotlighting Africa’s booming gaming market, from mobile innovation to evolving regulations.
Nigeria.- Africa’s gaming industry is stepping into the global spotlight as the SBC Summit 2025 dedicates an entire day to unlocking the continent’s enormous potential. The “Emerging Markets Africa” track, taking place in Portugal, promises a deep dive into the trends, challenges and innovations transforming gaming across Africa’s diverse markets.
The Emerging Markets Africa track is set for September 16, at the Feira Internacional de Lisboa (FIL). SBC, the powerhouse behind gaming’s most impressive conferences and exhibitions, is shining a bold spotlight on Africa. This track dives deep into key markets, from gaming leaders like Nigeria and South Africa to rising stars like Tanzania and Ghana.
Founder and CEO of SBC, Rasmus Sojmark, emphasised Africa’s rising influence and growing potential in the global gaming space
“Africa isn’t just one of the most exciting markets in gaming, it’s one of the most misunderstood. That’s why this track matters. We’re bringing together the people who know the region inside out, and creating a space for honest, practical conversations”, he said, according to the SBC website.
The session will examine how, with over 70 per cent of Africans owning smartphones and mobile money woven into daily life, this unique ecosystem is not just making payments seamless but also turning user engagement up a notch and unlocking a world of new opportunities.
Navigating Africa’s gaming landscape
The event will also feature five expert-led sessions designed to guide delegates through the continent’s most promising opportunities, operational challenges and regional nuances.
It will also explore how Nigeria and South Africa have long been seen as leaders in Africa’s gaming scene, thanks to a mix of well-regulated traditional and online gambling markets. But now, other countries like Ghana are catching up fast.
Regulation will be a hot topic at the summit as many African governments are pushing to create clearer fairer rules for gaming. Marketing is another key area where Africa stands out. The event will highlight how marketing in Africa requires operators to tailor campaigns to the continent’s rich cultural diversity and local languages, rather than simply copying global strategies.
The Africa-focused day kicks off SBC Summit 2025’s Emerging Markets track, followed by sessions on Eurasia, the Middle East and Asia, all running alongside the Global Markets track covering major regions worldwide.
