Orange champions African esports talent, aiming for global spotlight

Cameroon.- Telecoms company Orange is putting African gaming on the global map by hosting the EA Sports FC26 (Electronic Arts Sports Football Club) tournament, bringing together players from 15 countries to showcase the continent’s rising talent.
By revamping its tournament platform, Orange is creating new opportunities for African players to develop their skills and compete with the world’s best.
The long-running Orange eSport Experience has been rebranded as Orange EA Sports FC26, signalling a new era in collaboration with EA Sports. This partnership provides players with access to the latest EA Sports FC26 platform, creating a competitive and highly visible arena for Africa’s top gamers.
Spanning 15 African countries, including Benin, Cameroon, Egypt, Ghana, Madagascar, Mali, Morocco, Senegal and Côte d’Ivoire, the competition demonstrates Orange’s commitment to pan-African esports growth.
The company’s investment in broadband and 5G infrastructure supports smooth online gaming, live streaming and wider digital engagement. “Our aim is to show that Africa’s esports talent belongs on the global stage,” said Orange, according to WeAreTech Africa.
Inclusion and global ambition
Inclusion remains central to the tournament’s ethos. Female competitors from countries such as Cameroon and Morocco have participated in the 2026 finale, highlighting Orange’s commitment to equitable access and diversity.
Beyond competition, the company is actively supporting the establishment of official national esports federations, strengthening the continent’s gaming ecosystem.
Fans across Africa can watch the matches live via the Max it app, YouTube and FCM TV, giving unprecedented visibility to African esports talent. Looking ahead, Orange plans to take the platform international, inviting European participants to compete in future tournaments.
