Uganda.- The National Lotteries and Gaming Regulatory Board (NLGRB) has successfully concluded a three-day responsible gaming training program in collaboration with Gaming Laboratories International (GLI), LLC.

The program, which ran from Wednesday, April 23 to 25, at Kabira Country Club, equipped participants, mainly the NLGRB staff, with critical skills to promote responsible gaming practices and effectively regulate the industry.

According to the NLGRB, the training aligns with its ongoing efforts to create a secure gaming environment and strengthen its internal capabilities in responsible gaming.

The regulator also said that the initiative will help it create practical, localised manuals tailored to the needs of various stakeholders, particularly game operators.

On the second day of the program, participants were taken through an awareness session on gaming risks, using a high-low game to demonstrate potential harm. They were enjoined to play responsibly by setting time and budget limits, not chasing losses, and taking breaks when needed.

On day three, attendees engaged in group discussions on key aspects of responsible gaming, including self-exclusion, player education, legislative framework and stakeholder engagement.

The NLGRB emphasises the need for corporates to understand the potential risks gaming poses to employees and overall work performance. It noted that it is spearheading awareness creation among ministries, departments and agencies as part of its responsible gaming initiatives.

Denis Mudene, CEO of NLGRB, concluded the event by thanking the GLI University team and encouraging staff to take advantage of future training opportunities to improve their regulatory expertise.
