Morocco’s lotteries and betting operator hosts Sportech Summit
State-backed operator brings together government, investors and tech stakeholders in Rabat, as discussions centre on data, artificial intelligence and innovation.
Morocco.- Morocco’s Lotteries and Sports Betting operator (MDJS) hosted the Sportech Summit in Rabat, bringing together stakeholders from across the sports and technology sectors with a focus on data, artificial intelligence and innovation.
The recent event, held at the National Institute of Archaeology and Heritage Sciences, was organised by MDJS in collaboration with ecosystem partners including Accelab and the Moroccan Ministry of Digital Transition and Administrative Reform. It also marked the launch of a new cohort of the “Stadium” start-up accelerator programme, aimed at supporting sports innovation and technology-focused initiatives.
MDJS operates as Morocco’s sole legal provider of sports betting and lotteries, with a mandate that combines revenue generation with funding for national sports development, with proceeds supporting national initiatives.
Amal El Fallah Seghrouchni, Morocco’s Minister of Digital Transition and Administrative Reform, said at the Summit: “The future of sport is inseparable from data, artificial intelligence and technological innovation.”
Private sector speakers also highlighted the growing importance of data in the sports and technology ecosystem. “Data is no longer just a decision-making tool; it has become a strategic asset,” said Reda Laraichi, Vice-President of Rainbow World Group, a Morocco-based investment and business group.
