Morocco boosts its gaming industry with second edition of Video Game Incubator

Applications are now open for Moroccan game developers as the country strengthens its creative and cultural gaming ecosystem.

Morocco.- Morocco is accelerating its ambitions to become a leading hub for video game innovation in Africa. The second edition of the Video Game Incubator (VGI) has officially opened applications, inviting Moroccan game developers, both established studios and self-employed creatives.

The program, launched by the Ministry of Youth, Culture and Communication in partnership with the French Embassy in Morocco and the French Cultural Institute of Morocco, has a February 5 deadline for game developers. It offers Moroccan developers mentoring from international experts, practical training in both technical and business skills and access to strategic networks and global gaming events.

The initiative is designed to equip participants with the tools they need to take their projects from concept to international markets.

Morocco shows global gaming ambition

The first edition of the program in 2025 highlighted Morocco’s commitment to the sector. At the closing ceremony of the inaugural program in December 2025, officials emphasised the incubator’s potential to position Moroccan talent on the global stage.

Mohamed Mehdi Bensaid, Minister of Youth, Culture and Communication, said: “Morocco’s ambition is to develop robust cultural and creative industries and position Moroccan talent in international markets.”

Christophe Lecourtier, Ambassador of France in Morocco, said: “The program’s success is a vital step toward fostering a comprehensive economic sector capable of creating high-value jobs and attracting strategic foreign investment.”

The second edition builds on the foundations laid by the first cohort, offering startups the mentorship, networks and international exposure they need to scale. With Morocco’s creative economy growing rapidly, the incubator is expected to nurture a new generation of video game projects that could reach audiences far beyond the kingdom.

Applications are now open, giving developers a unique opportunity to innovate, collaborate and elevate Morocco’s gaming industry.
