Mauritius’s Caudan Waterfront Casino celebrates 30 years in gaming and tourism

The landmark casino marks three decades of operation within the Caudan Waterfront complex, highlighting its role in Mauritius’s regulated land-based gaming sector and the capital’s tourism economy.

Mauritius.- Mauritius’s Caudan Waterfront Casino is marking 30 years of operations in 2026, highlighting its role in the country’s land-based gaming sector and its location within the tourism and leisure district of the Caudan Waterfront.

Opened in 1996 as part of the redevelopment of Port Louis’ harbour area, the casino has operated alongside the wider Caudan Waterfront complex, which combines retail outlets, restaurants, cultural venues and nightlife attractions. Over three decades the waterfront has developed into one of Mauritius’s best-known leisure destinations for both tourists and local visitors.

The Caudan Waterfront team said: “Yesterday marked the official launch of our 30th anniversary celebrations.” The commemorative campaign also highlights the diverse mix of attractions available at the waterfront complex. “This logo represents the whole panoply of offerings we have at Caudan,” added the team.

The casino forms part of the capital region’s network of land-based gaming venues alongside L’Amicale Casino, Senator Club and Le Grand Casino du Domaine, offering table games such as roulette, blackjack and poker in addition to slot machines and electronic gaming options.

Boost for Tourism

Casinos in Mauritius operate within a regulated framework overseen by the Gambling Regulatory Authority, which supervises licensing and compliance across the island’s gaming sector.

The Caudan Waterfront complex also hosts a regular programme of tourism and cultural events that attract visitors to the capital. Activities held during 2026 include the Food Festival Series Caudan, as well as celebrations linked to Chinese New Year and the Dragon Boat Festival.

Entertainment programming at the nearby Caudan Arts Centre, which stages concerts, theatre productions and cultural events throughout the year, further contributes to visitor activity in the area.

As Mauritius’s tourism industry continues to grow, the Caudan Waterfront Casino remains one of the capital’s longstanding gaming venues, linking the country’s casino sector with the broader hospitality and entertainment economy of Port Louis.
