Mauritius’ Lottotech channels Rs2.7bn to strengthen national growth
Lottery operator supports 700 retailers, secures third consecutive WLA Level 4 recertification and contributes Rs681.1m to public services and national development.
Mauritius.- Mauritius’ lottery operator Lottotech Ltd has announced that it has reinvested Rs2.7bn (€49.7m) into the country, while paying out more than Rs1.7bn (€31.3m) in winnings to players.
Lottotech said it supports more than 700 local retailers across Mauritius and, in a LinkedIn post released in April 2026, noted that it had retained its third consecutive Level 4 recertification from the World Lottery Association (WLA), while lottery proceeds continue to contribute to public services, community development and sustainability initiatives across the country.
The company said: “From funding essential public services to strengthening communities, every play contributes to something meaningful.” The operator added that its impact extends beyond gaming, with funding directed towards programmes that empower women, support children and promote environmental protection, while also strengthening small business participation through its nationwide retail network. The company also reported retailer commissions of Rs160m (€2.9m) in 2024, further underlining its contribution to local businesses.
Further reinforcing its responsible gaming credentials, Lottotech said its third consecutive WLA Level 4 recertification makes it the first lottery in Africa to achieve the milestone. The operator first achieved Level 4 certification in 2020, with recertifications following in 2023 and again in 2026.
The company added: “Lottotech has been recertified at WLA Level 4 for the third time, placing us among 20 lotteries out of 165 worldwide to have achieved the highest Responsible Gaming standard and the first in Africa to do so three times.”
In its latest annual report, Lottotech also reported contributing Rs681.1m (€12.5m) to the Mauritian government’s Consolidated Fund in 2024, supporting public services and national development, while continuing broader CSR initiatives focused on education, diversity, climate action and community empowerment.
The company added that its continued certification reflects its commitment to maintaining high responsible gaming standards while ensuring lottery revenue creates broader national benefits.
The update reinforces Lottotech’s positioning as not only a lottery operator but also a key stakeholder in community development and economic participation in Mauritius, particularly as African lottery operators face increasing scrutiny around sustainability, compliance and social responsibility.
