Mauritius lottery operator backs 91 women entrepreneurs through LottotechSeeds
The LottotechSeeds initiative provides funding, coaching and mentorship to women entrepreneurs in Mauritius and Rodrigues.
Mauritius.- Mauritius National Lottery operator Lottotech has supported 91 women entrepreneurs and provided Rs1.275m (US$26,600) in seed investment through its LottotechSeeds initiative.
In a July 10 update, Lottotech said the entrepreneurs are based on the main island of Mauritius and Rodrigues and have received funding, personalised coaching and a three-month mentorship programme designed to help purpose-driven businesses grow sustainably.
The initiative has now completed six editions, backing businesses across the food, craft, tourism and creative industries sectors.
The programme supports women entrepreneurs whose businesses aim to generate social and environmental impact. Lottotech said: “Investing in women entrepreneurs is an investment in stronger communities, greater innovation, and a more sustainable future.”

The sixth edition culminated in seed funding awards for four women-led startup projects. The top prize of Rs100,000 (US$2,100) was awarded to Valerie Bolaram-Chetty for her project Nutrire. Joanna Mohabeer received Rs75,000 (US$1,600) for Jeredan Creations, while Doralie Lebrasse Rose was awarded Rs50,000 (US$1,100) for ExploreRodrigues.com. Jane Stephanie Madarbussus received Rs25,000 (US$530) for Ecrire L’invisible. “Together, we’re helping transform ideas into lasting impact,” Lottotech said.
The update comes amid Lottotech’s wider focus on its social and economic contribution in Mauritius. In June, the operator’s 2025 revenue allocation data showed Rs23.31 (US$0.49) of every Rs100 (US$2.09) spent on lottery products was channelled to the country’s Consolidated Fund, more than five times the Rs4.14 (US$0.09) recorded as operator profit.
