LONASE supports Senegal’s top students at 2026 General Competition Awards
The lottery operator hopes its contribution will encourage greater investment in science, technology and other initiatives that prepare young Senegalese for the future.
Senegal.- The Senegalese National Lottery (LONASE) has reaffirmed its support for education by backing the 2026 General Competition, Senegal’s annual awards programme recognising the country’s highest-achieving secondary school students.
The ceremony was presided over by Senegalese president Bassirou Diomaye Faye on Thursday, July 30, bringing together government officials, education stakeholders and parents to celebrate outstanding achievements in general and technical secondary education.
LONASE was represented at the event by Abdourahmane Baldé, director general, who commended president Faye’s commitment to education and congratulated the prize winners, teachers and the wider educational community.
Baldé said the organisation intends to remain a “faithful partner” of the General Competition, describing investment in education as the most effective way to invest in Senegal’s future. Referring to LONASE’s slogan, “Fortune to subscribers, benefits to the Nation,” he said the organisation reaffirmed its commitment to the country’s educational landscape through this national celebration of academic excellence.

The General Competition is regarded as one of Senegal’s most prestigious academic awards. Held annually, it recognises the country’s highest-performing students in general and technical secondary education while promoting the values of merit, discipline and excellence.
