Digital games and modernised infrastructure set to expand access for players across Niger and support social development.

Niger.- Niger’s National Lottery (LONANI) is preparing to enter the digital age. Director-General Soumana Djibo announced that the institution aims to digitise all its lottery and gaming products in 2026, introducing “digital games” to connect with players through online platforms.

The announcement was made on November 14, highlighting LONANI’s plans to modernise operations and broaden player access across Niger. “For now, the only product sold online is Parifoot. The goal for 2026 is to digitise all products and develop digital games that would bring the institution closer to its customers,” said Djibo, according to Le Sahel.

The move represents a major step toward aligning the lottery with international standards while improving convenience and transparency.

Taking office in January 2024, Djibo confronted a range of operational and structural issues at LONANI. He added: “Upon my arrival, we noted insufficient security in the server room, the absence of a drawing room, the infirmary did not meet any standard and the condition of sales kiosks was neither user-friendly nor secure.”

Since then, the lottery has undergone a sweeping overhaul. Facilities have been renovated, server rooms upgraded, a dedicated drawing room established and sales kiosks improved with solar panels, fans and electricity outlets. LONANI also launched MUTRALONI, an internal mutual-aid program providing health and social benefits for employees.

Djibo said: “We carried out inspections, upgraded server-room security, built a new infirmary, created a more welcoming environment and improved kiosks with fans, solar panels and electrical outlets.”

LONANI drives digital and social change

Alongside operational reforms, LONANI has continued its social initiatives. The lottery has funded classroom construction in Diffa and Dosso, supported vulnerable populations, and contributed to local health infrastructure.

Djibo added: “Since its creation, LONANI has played an essential role in promoting a fair and responsible gaming environment, thus generating revenues for the socio-economic development of our country.”

The 2026 digitalisation plan also coincides with Niger’s role as host of the next regional Tranche Commune Entente (TCE) lottery, positioning LONANI as a leader in West African operations. Moving games online is expected to enhance convenience for players while maintaining transparency and fairness.

With digital innovation, modernised operations and continued social initiatives, LONANI is forging a new path that enhances player access while strengthening its role in Niger’s national development.
