Liberia.- Liberia’s National Lottery Authority (NLA) has concluded a three-day management retreat focused on clarifying departmental responsibilities, aligning work plans with institutional objectives and improving accountability across the organisation.
The retreat, held in Monrovia, brought together the Authority’s management team and heads of divisions, departments and units to review its operational framework and identify ways to improve coordination and service delivery.
According to a statement released by the NLA on October 10, discussions covered a review of the terms of reference (ToRs) for the Authority’s various units, an assessment of existing work plans and whether departmental activities reflected their assigned responsibilities and the NLA’s broader objectives.
Management also examined the delegation of duties, reporting lines and potential overlaps or gaps in responsibilities. The exercise aimed to establish clearer lines of accountability and improve coordination between departments.
The Authority said the retreat was intended to strengthen the implementation of its programmes and activities by ensuring that its divisions, departments and units work towards common strategic objectives. NLA director general Peter L. Solo noted that effective institutional performance depended on clearly defined responsibilities, coordinated planning and a common understanding of organisational priorities.
The retreat’s findings are expected to guide management in improving how the Authority’s departments carry out their duties. However, the NLA has not disclosed specific deadlines or performance indicators for implementing the changes identified during the review.
