Liberia lottery authority strengthens ties with disability advocacy leadership
Both parties agreed to maintain regular engagement and align activities with measurable outcomes tied to the Alliance’s strategic plan.
Liberia.- The National Lottery Authority (NLA) of Liberia has pledged continued partnership with disability advocacy groups following discussions with the new leadership of the Alliance on Disability in Monrovia.
The engagement, held on March 11, introduced Anna Vines as the newly appointed Chairperson of the Alliance. It also provided an opportunity to review existing cooperation between both institutions and outline next steps for joint initiatives involving persons with disabilities (PWDs).
During the meeting, Vines shared that the Alliance is working on a five-year strategic plan aimed at guiding its activities over the coming years. The document is expected to define priority areas such as economic inclusion, access to opportunities and institutional representation for PWDs. She noted that collaboration with state-backed institutions like the NLA is necessary for implementation.
Representing the Authority, Chief of Staff Roger B. Abim-Karmon Sr. reiterated that support for PWDs remains part of the regulator’s mandate. He confirmed that the NLA will continue to fund and collaborate on programmes coordinated through the Alliance, which acts as a central body for multiple disability organisations in Liberia.
The meeting also addressed operational coordination, including how future projects will be structured, monitored and reported. Both parties agreed to maintain regular engagement and align activities with measurable outcomes tied to the Alliance’s strategic plan.
The process will move forward with the formal presentation of the Alliance’s strategic plan and the identification of specific programmes for joint execution. The Authority said the partnership aligns with its statutory mandate to direct part of gaming revenues towards social causes, including assistance for vulnerable groups.
