FKF and ESKF join forces to lead Kenya’s FIFAe World Cup 2026 qualifiers

Under the agreement, FKF will provide logistical support and coordination for Kenya’s campaign, while ESKF will oversee player selection and esports-specific training programmes.

Kenya.- The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) and Esports Kenya Federation (ESKF) have entered a formal partnership to lead Kenya’s involvement in the FIFAe World Cup 2026 qualifiers.

The initiative was announced in a joint statement this week, outlining a structured plan to mobilise players, prepare teams and coordinate Kenya’s participation in the FIFAe Nations League, which forms part of the official qualification pathway for the FIFAe World Cup 2026 finals in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Under the agreement, FKF will provide logistical support and coordination for Kenya’s campaign, while ESKF will oversee player selection and esports-specific training programmes. The selection process begins on March 15, 2026, with national trials and ranking events determining the players who will represent Kenya throughout the qualifying schedule.

The FIFAe World Cup is an official football esports tournament organised by FIFA, with more than 120 nations confirmed to participate in the 2026 season across multiple game formats, including eFootball Console, eFootball Mobile and Rocket League. Nations compete for a limited number of continental qualification slots through regional competition phases before advancing to the global finals.

This partnership represents a strategic step by FKF to broaden its competitive footprint, integrating digital football competitions alongside traditional team football. The move aligns with Kenya’s broader goal of enhancing its presence in global sports through major tournaments and increased corporate investment across multiple sporting disciplines.

ESKF, recognised as the governing body for esports in Kenya, will implement national ranking systems and official competitions to create a structured pathway for talent identification. The organisation has also gained recognition and influence within the global esports community, including representation on international governance platforms.

The FIFAe Nations League follows a fixed competition timeline, with qualification matches scheduled from April through July 2026, followed by continental championships later in the year. Teams that accumulate the highest points in their respective competitions will qualify for Africa’s spots at the FIFAe World Cup finals in Riyadh.
