Côte d’Ivoire emerges as a key market for Betclic

Côte d’Ivoire drives 16.4 per cent growth in Banijay Gaming’s international online casino revenue while Betclic promotes responsible gaming and community programs.

Côte d’Ivoire- Côte d’Ivoire’s Betclic is helping drive 16.4 per cent growth in its parent company Banijay Gaming’s non-France online casino revenue, contributing to €1.13bn in gaming revenue for the group while supporting responsible-gaming initiatives and local community programs.

The 16.4 per cent growth applies specifically to non-France online casino revenue, which includes operations in Côte d’Ivoire and other international markets. French operations are reported separately due to stricter regulations, higher taxes and distinct licensing rules.

An SBC report stated: “Online casino (non-France) revenue increased 16.4 percent, driven by sustained momentum in Portugal and the successful launch in Côte d’Ivoire, with both regions aided by stronger cross-sell from sports betting.”

Since launching in Côte d’Ivoire in 2022, Betclic has established itself as a safe, regulated and accessible online gaming platform. The operator runs its #SaferGaming campaign, recruiting local influencers-including artists Kerozen and Elow’n, and comedians like Willy Dumbo-to promote responsible play in a culturally relevant way.

Betclic also actively supports the community. It sponsors youth football tournaments, the ABC Fighters basketball team and has run road-safety campaigns, providing helmets to moto-taxi drivers. These initiatives demonstrate a strong commitment to social responsibility in Côte d’Ivoire and the wider African market.

Banijay’s global strength and African impact

Globally, Banijay Gaming continues to perform strongly. Its sportsbook division generated €857m, up 5.2 per cent. Operating profit rose 33 per cent to €250m, adjusted EBITDA reached €301m with a 26 per cent margin and net income grew 52 per cent to €183m.

Looking ahead, the planned merger with Tipico, backed by €3bn in financing, will create a combined entity projected to serve approximately 6.5m active players, generating €3bn in revenues and €854m in adjusted EBITDA, according to an Euronext, report. While the merged business will operate in regulated markets including Côte d’Ivoire, the specific revenue contribution from African markets is not quantified.

With strong global results, growing engagement in Africa, and active local programs, Betclic is demonstrating that online gaming in Africa can be both socially responsible and commercially impactful, benefiting local economies, sports and communities while setting a benchmark for responsible digital gaming in West Africa.
