Burundi President appoints new Financial Director at state lottery LONA

Official presidential decree confirms Appoline Ndoricimpa’s appointment as administrative and financial director at Burundi’s national lottery operator.

Burundi.- President Evariste Ndayishimiye has appointed Appoline Ndoricimpa as administrative and financial director of the National Lottery of Burundi (LONA), in a new senior appointment within the country’s regulated gambling sector. The appointment was confirmed in presidential decree No. 100/066 of May 13, 2026, published by the Office of the President of the Republic of Burundi.

The document reads: “Mrs Appoline Ndoricimpa is appointed Administrative and Financial Director at the National Lottery of Burundi (LONA).” Issued in Gitega, Burundi’s political capital, the appointment took immediate effect from the date of signature following a proposal from the Ministry of Mining Resources, Energy, Industry, Commerce and Tourism.

The document also repealed all previous provisions contrary to the appointment and was signed by President Ndayishimiye, Prime Minister Nestor Ntahontuye and Minister of Mining Resources, Energy, Industry, Commerce and Tourism Dr Hassan Kibeya.

LONA oversees Burundi’s national lottery activities and forms part of the country’s regulated gambling framework. The state-run operator remains one of the country’s key public gaming institutions.
