Burundi National Lottery maps out five-year project plans
LONA brings management and department heads together in Gitega to shape the lottery’s priorities for the years ahead.
Burundi.- Burundi’s National Lottery (LONA) has begun planning major projects for the next five years, with the organisation looking to shape its priorities for future development.
Management and senior staff gathered for a professional retreat in Gitega on August 21 to review the lottery’s plans for the period ahead, according to an announcement on LONA’s official website.
The organisation’s management also brought together employees heading different departments involved in LONA’s day-to-day operations, according to a Facebook post. LONA said the retreat concluded with the plans to be implemented being “approved and compiled into a booklet” that will serve as a guide for their execution.
The initiative comes as LONA continues to strengthen its regulatory role and regional cooperation. The lottery recently undertook a knowledge-exchange visit to Guinea to exchange experience on gaming regulation and strengthen institutional cooperation across the regional gaming sector.
Burundi has also strengthened financial compliance in the gambling sector, with new rules imposing a 50 per cent penalty on unpaid gaming fees and allowing licences to be suspended when outstanding amounts remain unpaid for more than one month, reinforcing compliance across the sector.
