Botswana showcases casino-linked resorts at Meetings Africa 2026
Avani Gaborone Resort and Casino and The Grand Palm Hotel Casino highlight urban hospitality and entertainment at South African trade show.
Botswana.- Botswana prominently featured its casino-linked resorts at Meetings Africa 2026, Africa’s leading business tourism trade show. The event, held from February 23-25, gathered tourism boards, hotels, conference centres, corporate buyers and meeting planners from across the continent and beyond to showcase destinations and hospitality offerings.
Among Botswana’s premier exhibitors were Avani Gaborone Resort and Casino and The Grand Palm Hotel Casino and Convention Resort, both offering a mix of accommodation, conferencing, dining and entertainment facilities designed to appeal to business and leisure travellers.
The trade show took place at the Sandton Convention Centre in South Africa, bringing together industry professionals, international buyers and event organisers from across Africa. Botswana’s presence highlighted how its urban hospitality infrastructure complements traditional tourism offerings, providing a full-service experience for business events markets.
Casino resorts drive visibility
Reflecting on Botswana’s participation, the Botswana Tourism Organisation (BTO) said: “Today, Botswana takes its place on the continental stage at Meetings Africa 2026.” The BTO underscores the country’s effort to boost visibility for its meetings and events sector, including casino-linked hospitality, in front of key decision-makers.
By featuring these resorts, Botswana demonstrated that its urban hospitality and entertainment options are a strong complement to wildlife, cultural and adventure tourism. These properties, in particular, play an important role in attracting corporate groups, conference attendees and incentive travellers, offering venues capable of hosting large-scale events while providing premium leisure experiences.
Botswana’s participation at Meetings Africa 2026 illustrates a strategic push to position its casino-linked resorts as central elements of its tourism offerings, helping to diversify the market, attract high-value visitors and strengthen the country’s profile in the African business events sector.
