Botswana Gambling Authority promotes responsible play in Maun

Sporting red tees with the GA logo and “I set my limit before I play” slogan, the team chatted with guests at the event about gaming responsibly and setting limits.

Botswana.- The Botswana Gambling Authority (GA) has participated in its first public responsible gambling activation in 2026. On Thursday, January 1, the GA teamed up with Promotional Buddies at The Day Club event in Maun to raise awareness on safer gaming.

Sporting red tees with the GA logo and “I set my limit before I play” slogan, the team chatted with guests at the event about gaming responsibly and setting limits. Individuals were encouraged to only gamble with what they could afford to lose and not chase their losses.

The authority also offered support for anyone struggling with gambling addiction, accessible via the responsible gambling self-help portal on its website, USSD code and a toll-free number.

The outreach aligns with the GA’s Motshameko o Phepa campaign in 2025 that saw the authority organise responsible gambling roadshows and programmes in 500 sites in Botswana, including Letlhakane, Werda, Maubelo and Paje. As the year kicks off, the regulator aims to drive more initiatives that promote healthy gaming habits across the country.
