Botswana.- The Botswana Gambling Authority has congratulated its Acting Director for Responsible Gambling and Corporate Affairs, Linnet Mafukidze, after she was named one of only two recipients of the prestigious SAROCA Transformational Leadership Scholarship, awarded by Women in Gaming Africa (WiGA).

The Authority said: “Congratulations Linnet. The Gambling Authority’s Acting Director Responsible Gambling and Corporate Affairs, Linnet Mafukidze, has been selected from 51 exceptional women who applied for the SAROCA Transformational Leadership Scholarship.”

Only two winners were chosen from the competitive pool of 51 applicants across Africa, with Linnet Mafukidze representing Botswana and Angeline Ndambiri selected from Kenya.

The scholarship is designed to empower high-potential female leaders in the gaming and gambling sector, equipping recipients with the skills, insights and networks to drive meaningful change. For WiGA, the award highlights transformational leadership and aims to inspire the next generation of African women in the industry.

WiGA said: “Her dedication to uplifting both women and men across Botswana and the broader African gaming ecosystem reflects the inclusive, forward‑thinking leadership our industry needs.”

At the Authority, Mafukidze plays a central role in overseeing responsible gambling initiatives in Botswana’s regulated sector. Her selection marks a major professional milestone and signals the growing recognition of women leaders across Africa’s gaming industry.

Colleagues at the Botswana Gambling Authority said her achievement resonates beyond the office walls. It reflects dedication, integrity and a commitment to shaping a more inclusive and sustainable gambling sector – a sector where leadership is measured not only by strategy, but by impact and vision.
