Boardwalk Hotel & Casino wins favourite local hotel for second consecutive year
The property, located in Summerstrand, Gqeberha, features 140 rooms and a range of entertainment options.
South Africa.- Sun International’s Boardwalk Hotel & Casino has been voted as the Favourite Local Hotel in The Bay’s Finest 2025 Readers’ Choice Awards. The award was determined by a public poll conducted by local newspaper PE Express, which saw residents cast their votes online and in print earlier this year. The achievement marks a second consecutive win for Boardwalk Hotel & Casino after also topping the list in 2024.
The property, located in Summerstrand, Gqeberha, features 140 rooms and a range of entertainment options, such as the casino, which offers a variety of slot machines and table games, a spa and a heated pool.
In addition to the Readers’ Choice award, the establishment’s International Convention Centre also recently received the Premier Conference & Events Venue Award at the inaugural Eastern Cape Tourism Awards, held on September 27, 2025, at Mentors Country Estate in Jeffreys Bay. The Centre boasts 3,000 square metres of meeting space on the beachfront, perfectly suited for hosting conferences, exhibitions and corporate functions.
The Eastern Cape Gambling Board (EGCB), which regulates Boardwalk Hotel & Casino, has acknowledged both achievements. The board noted in a public message: “Congratulations to our licensee, Boardwalk Hotel & Casino, on their double win. We’re proud to celebrate this outstanding achievement in hospitality and excellence.”
Boardwalk is one of 23 properties owned by Sun International Ltd. Earlier this week, the company appointed a new Chief Technology & Product Officer to drive innovation and product development across its operations.
